David Cain: Do Quests, Not Goals
From: https://www.raptitude.com/2024/08/do-quests-not-goals/
The conventional term for this […] is a “short-term goal.” But I suggested […] drop the [word “goal”] in favor of something more fanciful: the quest.
A quest is an adventure, and you expect it to be one.
A quest changes you, not just your situation.
A quest has a dragon to slay (and it’s inside you).
A quest can change the world.
I love this reframing from “goal” to “quest” for things that I want to achieve personally! “Goals” feel like pressure; “Quests” feel like excitement and adventure.
“My quest is to climb a V7 at my bouldering gym this year” 😍
